The Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) is the body approved by the Department for Education for the purpose of inspecting schools belonging to the Independent Schools Council (ISC) Associations and reporting on compliance with independent school regulations. ISI inspections are also carried out under arrangements of the ISC Associations for the maintenance and improvement of the quality of their membership.

The 2019 report included the following comments:

"The school meets the standards in the schedule to the Education (Independent School Standards) Regulations 2014, and relevant requirements of the statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage, and associated requirements, and no further action is required as a result of this inspection."

"The quality of the pupils' personal development is excellent."

"The pupils demonstrate excellent communication and listening skills, are willing to contribute in lessons and work well together…"

"The pupils have an excellent moral understanding as shown by their exemplary behaviour, consideration and empathy for those less fortunate than themselves."

"Pupils develop considerable enthusiasm for and enjoyment of mathematics..."

"They like being at school and find learning fun."

"The strong development of pupils' self-worth owes much to the highly effective use of praise and encouragement and the high-quality pastoral care which is tailored to their individual needs."

"Pupils have a strong sense of right, wrong and fairness. Their moral understanding and behaviour are excellent."

"An overwhelming majority of parents in the pre-inspection questionnaire responses positively appreciated the high standard of pastoral care for their children."

"Older pupils reach high levels of attainment which enable them to gain places at the senior school of their choice. A significant number are awarded scholarships and places at schools with demanding entry requirements."

“Our son joined Fairfield in Year 2. His teacher discovered he was worried about making mistakes so she taught him that there is a positive side to getting things wrong, that's how we learn and figure things out. It was a huge step forward for our child. From that point to Year 6 he has developed from a shy child into a confident young man.

This school really does take notice of the quiet children.”
