Admission Procedures

When you have decided that Fairfield is the right school for your child, we will ask you to complete a Registration Form and return it to us with a non-refundable registration fee of £100 per child. This fee covers the registration and assessment procedure. There are occasions when we are unable to offer a place to a child who is registered and awaiting assessment. In these circumstances, the registration fee will be refunded.

Lambs Nursery and Pre-School

Children are invited to school for two short visits, firstly with a parent or carer staying with them and secondly on their own.

Reception, Years 1 and 2

Children visit us for at least a morning, during which there will be an informal assessment in English and reading, mathematics and/or non-verbal reasoning.

Years 3 to 6

Children will spend a day with us, during which there will be a classroom-based assessment in English, mathematics and/or verbal or non-verbal reasoning. The Headmistress will also have an informal talk with your child. We shall then be able to assess whether we feel that your child will fit comfortably within the academic standards of the class and your child will be able to tell if he or she would be happy to join us. There is no further charge for this day, which also includes lunch.

You will be told the results of the assessment/visit within 24 hours and, if it is successful, we shall write to you with a formal offer of a place, giving details of the school’s Terms and Conditions. If you decide to accept the place, we shall ask you for a completed Acceptance Form together with an Acceptance Deposit of £500 per child. This deposit will be refunded to you, without interest, when your child leaves Fairfield.

You will receive a Parents’ Handbook giving information about day-to-day arrangements in school and a pre-term newsletter with details of clubs and extra-curricular activities for the coming term, together with special events and other general information. A termly diary will follow early in the term; we also issue a regular weekly newsletter for parents.

Pupils receive their own Pupil Handbook at the start of the academic year.

We look forward to welcoming you for a visit. If you would like any further information, or have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact admissions@fairfieldschool.org.uk
