SATs

Pupils develop a love of learning and demonstrate through their exemplary behaviour and enthusiasm that they enjoy their school life. They achieve so well as a result of consistently good teaching and an interesting and varied curriculum, which includes a very wide range of extracurricular opportunities.

ISI Report, 2011

SATs are taken by many 11-year-old primary school children at the end of Key Stage 2. Until 2016, the national standards expected children to achieve level 4 at this age; children who achieved level 5 were deemed to be working above the national average. Levels were discontinued in 2016 and replaced by a numerical score. Fairfield no longer participates in the SATs assessments.

As can be seen below, Fairfield School children consistently achieved well above the national average in the SATs assessments. However, given our small class sizes, if one child failed to achieve level 4 this made a difference of approximately 6% to our score.

We are delighted to report that, in the Sunday Times List (published November 2016), Fairfield was ranked 67th in the top 100 independent prep schools for SATs results (KS2 SATs in 2015). This places us far above any other independent schools in the Bristol and wider south west area.

  • Backwell School
  • Badminton School
  • Bristol Cathedral Choir School
  • Bristol Grammar School
  • Churchill School
  • Clifton College
  • Clifton High School
  • Colston’s Collegiate
  • Colston’s Girls’ School

  • St. Katherine's School
  • Nailsea School
  • Queen Elizabeth Hospital
  • Redland High School
  • Red Maids' School

Academic scholarships are often offered by receiving independent senior schools to our pupils for Year 7 entry. Over the past few years, our pupils have been awarded 68 scholarships for a wide range of skills and abilities: academic, sporting, music and performing arts. This is a remarkable achievement for a school of our size and one of which we are justifiably very proud.
